Animal Care Associate

Vaxxinova currently has facilities in nine countries including Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Norway, the Netherlands, Thailand, and the USA. Vaxxinova is part of the family-owned EW Group, headquartered in Germany. The EW Group specializes in animal genetics, animal nutrition and animal health, operates in over 100 countries and records consistent international growth. The Research & Development division of Epitopix LLC is seeking a part-time Animal Care Associate, located in Willmar, MN.

Responsibilities for this Role Include:

  • Feeding, watering, bedding changes, washing cages for research animals
  • Additional responsibilities may involve animal vaccinations, monitoring, and hands on animal work.
  • Assist with general grounds care in and around the facility
  • Assist with general housekeeping responsibilities such as mopping floors and laundry
  • Grounds work such as painting, gathering shavings, hay, and straw for animal bedding

Ideal Candidate - Who Should Apply:

  • We are seeking a motivated individual with an interest or educational background in the animal sciences
  • An individual must be willing to work with, care for, and handle animals for research purposes (including poultry, calves, and mice)
  • Detail oriented
  • A positive, ‘can do’ attitude is a must
  • Must be capable of bending, pushing, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Working Environment:

  • Epitopix is committed to workplace safety.  Work is performed both indoors and outside, year round, requiring exposure to varying weather and terrain.

Compensation & Schedule:

  • This opportunity is a part-time, paid position, up to 20 hours weekly
  • Core working hours are flexible between Monday – Friday, 8:00AM – 5:00PM, and Saturday and Sunday approximately 1-4 hours each day for feeding and miscellaneous chores.

Research Farm Lead

The Research & Development division of Epitopix LLC is seeking a full time Research Farm Lead for the Research facility located in Willmar, MN.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum: Associates degree and 7 years of animal husbandry experience
  • Preferred: Bachelors degree (Agriculture focused) and 10 years of animal husbandry experience

Description:

  • Coordinate/support study activities, including but not limited to:
    • Animal husbandry (feeding, watering and bedding)
    • Daily and weekend chores
    • Work with, care for and handle animals
    • Facility set-up and tear down
    • Clean and sanitize facility following strict biosecurity procedures
    • Maintain detailed records
  • Coordinate/support facility and equipment activities, including but not limited to:
    • Grounds maintenance (mowing, snow removal etc.)
    • Coordinate activities with outside vendors
    • Equipment preventative maintenance
    • General facility upkeep
  • 40 hour work week with occasional extended days required
  • Monday – Friday with rotating weekend schedule

Skills:

  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Mechanically inclined (equipment/facility upkeep)
  • Basic carpentry skills
  • Personal attributes: motivated, independent, positive outlook and a team player
  • Train colleagues by the transfer of knowledge (basic study procedures, facility upkeep)
